Pictures[editovat zdroj]

Hi, could you explain what wiolates Wikia policy and what not?

Could you answer my previous question?

So, could you tell us, why it haven´t been any problem for 9 years and now it is? Where are the limits? Some of deleted pics were classical paintings, some of them were "ethnographical" photos, some of them contained a "soft" nudity, but all substantial was covered. If we subtitute these pictures, would be sufficient to blur them, to retouch them or to replace by a drawing? --Karkos (diskuse) 27. 1. 2016, 14:46 (UTC)

You deleted pictures of clothed people (example), historical paintings and sculptures, censored pictures, pictures, where was nothing to see (example 1; example 2) .... Do you have some constructive solution, to replace them by some pictures which would not in conflict with your policy and which would illustrate the text as well as those deleted? --Karkos (diskuse) 8. 2. 2016, 23:47 (UTC)

Sure, I can give you the details! Wikia's Community Guidelines also tell you what's okay and what isn't, but it's only a short description. This is basically what you need to know: Pictures that show naked genitals are not okay. For example, no vaginas, penises, or female nipples. If they're covered or censored (e.g. woman wearing a bikini instead of naked), then it's okay. Explicit pictures of sex acts are not okay, for example images showing masturbation, hand jobs, anything along those lines. If it's not explicit, for example just a couple kissing, then that's okay. It doesn't matter if an image is a photo, a drawing, or painting - what counts is what's depicted.
The example you linked to is a bit of borderline case - yes, the woman is clothed, but you can still see her nipples. As for paintings, sculptures, and other pieces of art: It strongly depends on context. For example, if they're on something like classical-art.wikia.com, images of nude paintings would probably be tolerated. If you put the same art pictures somewhere else, where they're not directly related to the text and are not needed to illustrate the text, we won't allow them. Especially if they're on a page targeted to a younger audience, we won't allow them. Similarly, if you have explicit artwork on a music album cover, we'd usually delete it, but we might tolerate the uncensored picture if it's on a wikia page about that band or that album. Basically, we judge each image based on its content and context, according to these guidelines.
The reason why we deleted a number of images for violating Wikia's terms of use now and not before is because we didn't know they were there. They were in violation of the rules for a long time, but we only discovered them now. Once we knew about those images, we had to do delete them. And since there were very many of them, we deleted them in bulk. If you think we might have accidentally deleted one that really should have been allowed to stay, you're welcome to let us know. But please ask us before you just put it back up.
Does that make it a bit clearer? If you want to put a picture back up but make sure it doesn't break any rules, you could use a photo editing program and censor the parts that aren't allowed - for example put a black bar over genitals, or pixelate those areas. Ad paragraph 1: What about animal and vegetal genitals? Ad par. 2: It strongly depends on context The main topic of Necyklopedie is humour, sou humorous pictures should be kept, i think. Ad par 3: I will find them later. Ad par. 4: I did it with some pictures, but you deleted them as well. Should be a bar of other color? --Karkos (diskuse) 15. 2. 2016, 19:32 (UTC)
With animals, it also depends on context and content. Most pictures of animals are fine - when animals are naked, it's harmless. If it's a close-up of animal genitalia, however, then there are only very few contexts in which this would be okay (animal husbandry might be a topic where such a picture is appropriate). Most likely, an animal genitalia picture is aimed to shock the viewer, not really necessary to illustrate an article, and so likely to be deleted by Wikia.
We know that Necyklopedie is satirical, and because of this we may allow more controversial content here than we might elsewhere. We can't completely suspend the rules, though, especially when it comes to images. A user can choose not to read a text they find offensive, but you can't really choose not to see an image that pops up on a page. It's easier to shock, disgust, or disturb someone with an inappropriate image than with text, and Wikia's image guidelines are valid here as well.
If we've deleted images that were censored, it might have been because not all of the offensive area was covered, or the cover was somewhat see-through. It's hard to say exactly without knowing what the images looked like that you're referring to. Generally, the color of your censoring doesn't matter, any color is fine, so long as you can clearly see it's a cover and not more skin! Mira Laime (diskuse) 16. 2. 2016, 00:46 (UTC)
It seems that the problem is in a different understanding of reality in the US and another in the Czech Republic. Because the server is there, so the nuances of content are perceived differently, it is quite certain if it was for example in the Islamic state, so we have not seen from ankle women, but again severed heads, rivers of blood, stoning, quartering bodies would be OK.--Nytra (diskuse) 16. 2. 2016, 11:26 (UTC)

Fair use[editovat zdroj]

Hi, and how about fair use on this czech wikia?----

I'm not sure I understand the question. Could you be more specific? Thanks! Mira Laime (diskuse) 17. 2. 2016, 19:49 (UTC)

Can be used fair use on Necyklopedia?

Sorry, I'm still a bit confused. What do you want to use on Necyklopedie? Mira Laime (diskuse) 17. 2. 2016, 23:07 (UTC)

Pictures like this https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Simpsons_FamilyPicture.png

Ah, so you're asking if this image would be okay to use on Wikia, in terms of copyright? I'm afraid we can't answer that question for you. If you want to upload something to Wikia, it's your responsibility to check that image's copyright situation first. In this case, maybe your answer is on the image's page itself, under licensing?
